Ban all AI Car Meet Flyers! See what this community has done

Let's get this out of the way first: I used AI to help write this.

I'm not saying that to be edgy. I'm saying it because that's the whole point. If we're going to talk about AI in the car scene, we should be honest about it.

A local car group:

recently said they'll start deleting posts with AI-generated flyers. Their reason made sense: this scene runs on the photographers, designers, and owners sharing real shots of real cars. And they called out that AI flyers all look the same.

A lot of people felt that.

Think about how you got into cars

Nobody fell in love with this culture because of a flyer.

It was that first meet in a parking lot. The first rolling shot of your car. The guy who helped you install coilovers in his garage for a case of drinks. The detailer who brought your paint back. The photographer who stayed out past sunset to catch the right light.

That's the scene. People. Hours. Sweat. Money spent on each other.

The truth about AI in our world

I use AI. I'm a husband, a dad, working a full-time job, and building Selfvation on the side. AI helps me plan, organize, write, and keep up. I'm not going to pretend I don't use it.

But the concern from creators is real. AI isn't the villain. But it is changing who gets paid.

Why supporting local costs more — and why it's worth it

Here's the part we learned the hard way: you can't build this alone.

Paying a local photographer costs more than typing a prompt. Hiring a local designer costs more than a template. But that money doesn't vanish. Research from Civic Economics found local retailers put an average of 52% of their revenue back into the local economy, compared to 14% for chains.

Now run that through the car scene:

• You pay a photographer to shoot your meet.

• Their shots get shared, and more people show up next time.

• Those people buy from the vendors, the detailers, the tint shops.

• Those shops sponsor the next event.

• The designer who made the flyer posts it to their followers.

That's the full circle. Everyone who pays in grows. Everyone who skips it slowly shrinks the scene they depend on.

Where Selfvation stands

We're 100% behind the people who make this culture run: hosts, organizers, photographers, videographers, designers, promoters, shop owners, and every owner who shows up and shares their build.

Here's how we handle it:

• AI stays in the garage. We use it for planning, systems, and getting work done behind the scenes.

• Real people run the show. Public-facing content should feature real cars, real shots, and real creators whenever we can make it happen.

• Credit every time. If your work helps us, your name is on it.

• We win together.

Selfvation is built to work better the more people support each other. That's not a slogan. It's how the platform is designed.

To the photographers and designers

If you shoot, edit, or design and want to be part of what we're building, hit us up. We'd rather grow with you than around you.

This is bigger than cars to us!

Selfvation exists for one reason: nobody should have to love car culture alone. Every meet, every spotlight, every build we share is pulling toward something real — our own indoor home for this community. A warehouse where the family gathers rain or shine, where kids are welcome, where nobody gets judged for what they drive.

We're not there yet. But every follower, every subscriber gets us closer. If this is your world too, you're already one of us.

So the question is? Who’s else is going to ban AI event flyers?
